Parques Eólicos del Caribe S.A (PECASA) is developing 50MW Greenfield wind farm near the town of Villa Vasquez in the province of Montecristi, in the northwestern part of the country.

The wind farm will consist of 25 units of Gamesa G97 wind turbines, each with a rated power of 2MW.

Construction work is expected to begin in November 2012 and be completed and commissioned by the end of next year.

All the power generated from the wind farm will be sold to Corporacion Dominicana de Empresas Electricas Estatales (“CDEEE”) under a 20 year power purchase agreement.

PECASA has requested loan financing to the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the wind farm. IFC is considering to finance up to US$32.5 million through an A Loan for the US$133 million project.

PECASA is a majority controlled by Gamesa Energía SAU, a subsidiary of Spanish company Gamesa Corporacion Tecnologica SA.
