The projects will initially be owned by their developers

Xcel Energy has unveiled 800MW in projects in South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota. The three projects - new, repowered and revived - will initially be owned by their developers. They are to be completed in 2020. The 600MW Crowned Ridge project, to be developed by NextEra Energy, consists of a 300MW build-own-transfer project for Xcel, which will also sign a 300MW power purchase agreement for the output of the remainder of the project. Xcel will own all of Crowned Ridge once it is online. Xcel also announced that the Lake Benton Wind Project, formerly known as the 103.5MW Lake Benton II, will be repowered as a 100MW build-own-transfer project by NextEra Energy. Once it is online, Xcel will buy the output and the asset. The third project, Clean Energy 1 is a 100MW project in North Dakota, originally announced by ALLETE Clean Energy in 2011. Xcel announced that it will buy the output and the wind farm once it is online.
