Kay County of Oklahoma state has been supportive to the 60 MW Blackwell wind farm being proposed in the northwestern part of the county.

The county commissioners have approved a permit to allow underground electric lines to cross beneath county roads in the area and also noted a notice of land use approval for the wind farm which is being developed in joint venture by OwnEnergy and Blackwell Wind Power LLC.

The developers plan to erect between 26 and 37 turbines, which they expect to become operational either by the end of this year or early next year.
